Preparing for National Lorry Week: OneAdvanced is a proud sponsor

24/09/2024 minute read OneAdvanced PR

National Lorry Week is coming up November 4-8th. Organised by the Road Haulage Association (RHA), the trade association for commercial vehicle operators (and a OneAdvanced customer!), it celebrates the role of the truck and the driver in modern society. 2024 marks the event’s 10th anniversary.

We at OneAdvanced are delighted to be sponsors, helping the RHA promote the relevance and value of the sector to the UK economy.

Why celebrate?

As a logistics or manufacturing business, your success is likely to hinge on HGV drivers and associated road haulage professionals, such as fleet and transport managers and vehicle technicians. National Lorry Week is a good chance to reflect on and celebrate their talent and hard work, as well as the importance of the industry.

This is also a sector facing a chronic skills shortage – which is likely to affect your business, as you try to source the talent to power your road freight. This year’s National Lorry Week theme is attracting new generations, increasing candidate understanding of logistics roles and positioning driving as an exciting career choice. National Lorry Week is the perfect time to promote growth opportunities within your business, and leverage your team’s stories to promote the sector as a whole.

Why do we sponsor National Lorry Week?

OneAdvanced supports the logistics and manufacturing industries – both in which road haulage plays a key role – with sector-specific software to power their worlds of work. Our customers include dedicated road haulage businesses, logistics companies that include road freight under their umbrella of services, and manufacturers that rely on road haulage providers or have their own fleet.

We couldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate National Lorry Week, given our focus on championing desk-free workers. Desk-free, or frontline workers, of which drivers are a key example, are often overlooked or can too easily feel unengaged – with high job dissatisfaction and increased employee churn rates.

Supporting desk-free workers is a key priority for us as a company, and we develop solutions like our performance management solution, Performance & Talent, and workforce management solution, Time & Attendance, with them in mind. Our OneAdvanced portfolio is built to support a distributed workforce; accessible via cloud so drivers can access our products via their phone or hand-held devices.

Performance & Talent incorporates a feature that allows drivers, who often will not spend much one-on-one time with their managers, to gather external feedback from those they work with in the supply chain – like warehouse staff and freight partners – to build a fuller picture of their performance. It also allows users to leave voicenote recognition and AI-assisted feedback, making connecting with colleagues easier for drivers and their managers - even when English might not be their first language, if they are dyslexic or simply do not enjoy writing!

Similarly, our Time & Attendance workforce management solution can allow your drivers to clock-in on the go, with time tracking to support their tachograph. They can clock in remotely, using their smartphone or a device – enabling accurate workforce management during overnight stop-offs, without having to return to a site.

Ideas of what you can do for National Lorry Week:

  • Watch out for the RHA truck!

The Road Haulage Association will be sending a truck to events up and down the UK, bringing awareness of the industry far and wide, and to local and national news channels and stations.

Watch out for its progress on the RHA social media and look out for the OneAdvanced logo on its livery!

  • Organise your own celebrations

National Lorry Week is a fantastic chance to treat your drivers, celebrate their successes and run your own events. From assembling parties to meet the RHA truck, special thank yous to staff, or organising treats at the depot, there are lots of ways to love the lorry.

  • Get behind #NationalLorryWeek on social media

Use the #NationalLorryWeek hashtag to share your driver stories and voices, creative videos, inspiring images of life on the road or just show off the great vehicles in your fleet. We’ll be watching out to boost the posts we see on LinkedIn.
